The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream selects highly skilled individuals who wish to live in Nova Scotia permanently. Applicants must have at least one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in a high skilled occupation.

Recent changes to the Express Entry Stream
On June 9, 2022, the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration made a change to the Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry stream.

With only a certain number of people we can move through our immigration programs each year, the Department often updates programs based on the needs of employers and how programs are performing. These changes are made to help address labour needs and ensure we maximize the retention of immigrants and international graduates.

We know that people who have studied in Nova Scotia are more likely to stay in Nova Scotia. However, over the past two years, the Experience Express Entry program has received significantly more applications from graduates who studied out of province. With this latest change, we have chosen to focus the Experience Stream on Nova Scotia graduates.

We still have many other immigration pathways available to those who studied elsewhere. They can contact the Department to learn more at immigration@novascotia.ca.

Review all Nova Scotia Nominee Program streams or the Atlantic Immigration Program for other immigration pathways that may be available to you.

Applications submitted on or before June 8 will be processed.

This change does not affect applicants who gained experience while on other types of work permits.

LSI has temporarily paused the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) and the Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry (NSEEE) stream to NOC 6311 – food service supervisors. The following are currently not eligible:

Under NSEEE, work experience with NOC 6311
Under AIP, job offers with NOC 6311
The following remain the same:

Candidates using NOC 6311 can apply through the Skilled Worker Stream
Businesses working in the food and hospitality sectors will continue to be able to use the Skilled Worker stream to recruit food service supervisors.
Employers are also able to recruit food and beverage servers (NOC 6513) and food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations (NOC 6711) through the Occupations in Demand (OiD) stream.
If you need further assistance, please contact our office for help identifying the best option to recruit food service supervisors.
